Background
This program is based on a book by Matthew Kelly,
The Dream Manager. The books relates the experiences of a fictional company and their efforts to find out what is really driving their employees. The company has high turnover and low morale and wants to find a way to fix these real world problems. What they discover is that the fulfillment of personal dreams can lead to an employee becoming more engaged in their work environment.
Matthew Kelly is a motivational speaker as well as a best-selling author. He is a partner in
Floyd Consulting, a management-consulting firm in Chicago. Floyd Consulting is the force behind the Dream Manager Program.
Miller’s Textile
The president of Miller’s Textile Services heard Matthew Kelly speak at a conference he attended. Because of that he read several of Matthew’s books, including The Dream Manager. He began to wonder if this program could help his company reach some of the goals he has set over the years.
All employees were asked to fill out a survey to gauge interest in the program. There was a very strong interest for it to be implemented. Floyd Consulting was brought in to implement the program with the first group of participants starting in January of 2013. To select those participants, an application form was to be submitted indicating why the applicant was interested and what their participation could do to help the company become better.
My Participation
I emphasized on my application that I would like to help my fellow employees live better lives by presenting the workplace version of Financial Peace University by Dave Ramsey to them. I guess that is why I was chosen!
